How Does This Allergan Injectable Work?

This Allergan product is different from the JUVÉDERM Collection of fillers because it uses modified hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in microdroplet form, to restore hydration to the cheeks. It doesn’t require a series of treatments because a single injection delivers these microdroplets just below the skin’s surface, hydrating the skin from the inside out and improving skin smoothness on the cheeks.

How Is It Different From a Biostimulator or Hyaluronic Acid-Based Filler?

This product is technically a dermal filler, even though it doesn’t add volume below the skin’s surface. It qualifies as a filler because it uses hyaluronic acid to deliver results, but the HA particles in the product enhance cheek smoothness and improve hydration.

This injectable is designed to improve the skin’s moisture content and promote skin radiance. After your first treatment, you will enjoy your results for up to six months. Patients who want to maintain their long-term results must schedule maintenance sessions every six months to enjoy smooth, glowing skin indefinitely.

SKINVIVE pairs well with other cosmetic products and treatments. Patients who want to fill hollow areas, smooth lines and wrinkles, add natural volume below the skin’s surface or reshape their faces will be able to do so with one of the dermal fillers from the JUVÉDERM Collection. It also pairs well with neuromodulators like BOTOX, Dysport, XEOMIN, and Jeuveau, which smooth expression lines on the upper half of the face resulting from repetitive muscular movements and the natural aging process.

Is There Downtime?

After your SKINVIVE treatment, you will be able to resume most of your normal daily activities, but it may take up to two weeks for your skin to heal. Patients must avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours and avoid touching the treatment area. It’s also important to avoid alcohol consumption, makeup application, and sleeping face down for the first day.

At the end of your appointment, we will provide you with a complete list of aftercare instructions so you know how to care for the injection sites to ensure the best results.

Am I a Good Candidate?

The best candidates for this hyaluronic acid-based filler are patients who want to subtly enhance their appearance, want smoother skin, and who want to improve skin hydration and achieve a natural and lasting glow. Patients should be in good health and have skin free of an infection in the planned treatment area, understand the aftercare instructions, and have realistic expectations about the treatment and the results. Pregnant and nursing women don’t qualify for treatment.
