BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Cristyn Watkins is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is also Certified in Integrative/Functional, Metabolic, and Nutrition Medicine.

She focuses her entire practice on advanced medical aesthetics, regenerative medicine, healthy aging, and personalized wellness medicine. Her passion is to inspire confidence, improve vitality and empower others to be their very best!

She is the owner and visionary of aNu Aesthetics(™) and Optimal Wellness and Thrive MD!  She has multiple locations in Kansas City and is involved in every aspect of the practices, training her own expert medical staff and medical providers nationwide.

Dr. Watkins has always had a huge passion for skin and advanced treatments. As a Family Medicine physician in under-served areas of Brooklyn, NY, Summit, NJ and Northwest Missouri, she was a front-line provider of dermatology concerns and skin procedures. This included rashes, cysts, moles, acne, melasma, skin biopsies, sutures, cyst and abscess excision. She wanted to take her dermatology procedures further and soon expanded into advanced medical aesthetics. She opened her first location of aNu Aesthetics in KC North in 2011, only 2 years after completing her Chief Resident year in 2009, while still treating underserved communities.

She continued to practice traditional Family Medicine for over 10 years, becoming the youngest Chief Medical Officer at Northwest Health Services in 2014, overseeing and training almost 20 nurse practitioners and physicians at 7 locations. Over this time, she struggled with her own chronic health issues and wanted to find another alternative to pharmaceuticals and the limited answers. She desired a synergy practice to treat patients on the inside AND outside, with wellness AND aesthetics.

In 2016, after the birth of her twin girls, her health continued to decline, and she could not find answers in traditional medicine. Through her personal search for answers, she was called to learn Functional Medicine to help heal herself and others. She then started her second Board Certification and renamed the practice aNu Aesthetics(™) and Optimal Wellness. At that time, she added Anti-Aging & Functional Medicine to her practice and focuses on IBS/IBS, Autoimmune Disease, Chronic Infections (Lyme, Mold, EBV etc), Toxins, Endocrine Issues, Infertility, Insulin Resistance/PCOS, Anxiety/Depression, Medical Weight Loss, Bio-Identical Hormones and more! She blends traditional and alternative options to find the root of the problem and develop a comprehensive plan that is personalized to each individual patient.

Dr. Watkins continued to look for further options to treat her patients and her own chronic disease, inflammation, pain, fatigue and immunity issues.  She completed advanced training in 2017 and added Regenerative Medicine to her practice. These advanced treatments include PRP, Ozone, Peptides, IV Nutritional Therapy and Advanced Biologics. She focuses a lot of her recent research and practice on these advanced therapies and is a National Regenerative Medicine Trainer. She co-owned Regenerative Treatment Centers of Kansas and transitioned this successful practice to her own in 2021.

She is fervent in her search for progressive options and is always learning and searching for the next breakthrough treatments in anti-aging medicine and aesthetics.

MORE INFORMATION:

She is a certified Master Injector by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery in Neurotoxin and Cosmetic Fillers. She enjoys teaching and performing consultations, allowing her to discuss all of the aesthetic options with her patients, and performing aesthetic injectables to allow the natural transformation her patients desire. She truly enjoys helping others achieve their desired appearance.

Dr. Watkins is also trained in Bio-Identical Hormones, Medical Weight Loss and Functional/Metabolic/Nutrition Medicine with the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of George Washington University. She has a strong desire to share her knowledge and teach all patients and other medical providers how to achieve a healthy lifestyle. She has treated diabetes, heart disease, thyroid conditions, menstrual and hormone conditions for over 15 years in traditional medicine. Now she can use additional non-traditional options to treat inflammation, weight issues, fatigue, pain, immune related disease, chronic infections, and hormone-related issues.  She believes in teaching her patients (and other providers) how to do this on their own, empower them to change their own lives and coach them through the life-long wellness journey.

She now has multiple locations to help serve Kansas City, the surrounding community and train nationwide medical providers! Her vision is to bring her advanced procedures and medicine to as many people as possible, so they may also enjoy wellness and beauty on the inside AND the outside!

Dr. Watkins has been very successful at helping patients achieve a healthier, happier, and slimmer self! Her goal for everyone is VITALITY through all ages. She invites you to join her on this vision and mission for many years to come!
