Dr. Heather Isom is a native of Columbia, Missouri, and received her undergraduate and medical training at The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine’s accelerated six year combined BA/MD program. She completed her residency and board certification in Emergency Medicine in and currently serves as assistant professor of Emergency Medicine at University of Missouri-Kansas City/Truman Medical Center.
Although initially trained in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Isom developed an interest and became trained in aesthetic medicine alongside Dr. Watkins in 2011 and has been a part of aNu Aestheticsâ„¢ and Optimal Wellness since its inception. Dr. Isom believes that feeling good about how you look is paramount in feeling good in general. In addition to her full time job in the Emergency Department at Truman Medical Center-Hospital Hill, she is still passionate about aesthetic medicine and thoroughly enjoys providing aesthetic services at aNu.
Dr. Isom works full time at Truman Medical Center-Hospital Hill and part-time at aNu Aestheticsâ„¢ and Optimal Wellness. Although two jobs keep her quite busy, in her spare time, Dr. Isom enjoys her main priority-her family. She is married to Dr. Michael Shafe, and together they have four boys-Keenan, Kai, Kian, and Kristoffer. They enjoy spending time together at home, as well as travelling around the US and the world as a family.
