Voluma Filler: Facelift Without Surgery

Juvéderm Voluma XC may not be making headlines right now, but it has  undoubtedly remained consistent through the years, in terms of results and market demand.  For people considering dermal filler injections and thinking if Juvéderm Voluma XC is the best treatment option, it is vital to learn more about it.

So what are Voluma fillers? Voluma came to Europe in 2005 and became the first non-invasive hyaluronic acid filler approved by the FDA made for age-related volume loss, especially on the face. Manufactured by Allergan, it is a member of the Juvéderm family of fillers. Since most fillers treat skin wrinkles, Voluma is used to increase volume. Unlike synthetic fillers, Voluma is a filler composed of hyaluronic acid; it uses a viscous fluid obtained from a hyaluronic acid substance.

How Does Juvéderm Voluma Work?

First-time patients commonly question how everything works. Since there are numerous dermal fillers on the market, the effectiveness of these products vary significantly. The phrase “dermal filler” covers a wide variety of injectable fillers that increase facial volume and improve the overall look of your face.

Several of these dermal fillers accomplish their goal by calming facial muscles. On the other hand, others encourage collagen production, and some concentrate on treating age-related volume deficit by retaining moisture.

Juvéderm Voluma is among the many options for facial fillers available from the Juvéderm line. Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in all Juvéderm product lines, which is a natural substance that exists in the human body.

Hyaluronic acid ties to water, functioning like a hydrator. It holds more than 1,000 times its weight in water, but it also prevents the water from vaporizing. As a result, it contributes volume to the skin by retaining the skin moist, keeping it supple.

Voluma is mainly formulated to give the cheeks a fuller, plumper, and youthful appearance. It is a deep injection that prevents sagging and contouring the anteromedial cheek lines. Since it works profoundly in the facial skin, its duration is longer than other injectable gel fillers, including different types of Juvéderm Volumaâ„¢ XC lines.

When in the hands of a professional injection specialist, this Juvéderm type will transform the cheeks to a fuller and reduce the appearance of lines. It will iron out dynamic wrinkles, and the corners and contours of the cheeks will be similar to those of a young person.

All of this is accomplished by simply repairing the cheek’s natural levels of hyaluronic acid, which naturally declines as humans age. Patients will see the results right away following the filler injection. It will take about a week or two for the Juvéderm Voluma to settle.

The tiny droplets of hyaluronic acid will connect to the natural moisture in the cheeks, creating a full but supple appearance. While some patients are concerned that cheek fillers will give them a strange or artificial facial appearance, Juvederm Voluma gives you a more natural look.

Common Side Effects of Juvederm Voluma

Studies were conducted to test the potential side effects of JUVEDERM VOLUMAâ„¢. During the initial phase of the study, 238 participants were treated with JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC in the mid-face region in a randomized clinical study to assess the efficacy and safety of JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC. Additional treatments were administered approximately one month after the initial treatment.

The treatment group subjects were entitled to receive treatment after a 6-month blind study “no treatment” control period; 32 control study participants were given the cosmetic procedures. After receiving JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC for the first time, 98% of the participants reported a local treatment site response.

After finishing each treatment session, participants rated treatment site responses as mild (21.5%) or moderate (59.2%) in severity, lasting1 to 2 months after treatments. In terms of median duration, the median length as soft to severe for treatment site reactions was two days, and the median period to complete resolution (recovery time) was six days.

Based on data from 120 control subjects, the percentages by severity of CTRs after repetitive therapies is comparable, with a lower incidence and timeframe compared to primary treatment. The most common adverse reactions were quick injection site reactions, such as tenderness, inflammation, stiffness, bumps, lumps, bruising, discoloration, pain, redness, and itching.

The adverse effects were mild (uncomfortable) and typically lasted two to four weeks. Infection is a danger with all skin injection treatments. Injection site dryness was also mentioned for JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA XC. Since initial injection, most of the adverse effects of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC cleared up within two weeks to a month.

The majority of JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gels are fixed within 2 weeks or less. Such injection-related adverse events are similar to those seen with other facial injection treatments.

The majority of side effects are temporary reactions that dissipate over a couple of days. Antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase can cure the nasty side effects that last more than 30 days (a component that disintegrates hyaluronic acid).

Why Should a Person Consider Juvéderm Voluma

Juvéderm’s use of hyaluronic acid ingredients makes it a superb, non-invasive treatment option. It is also highly effective, and the injection session is brief. Initial treatment could take as little as an hour, and patients can resume their daily activities. The results will be visible immediately, and in the case of Juvéderm Volumaâ„¢ XC, injections can last as long as two years.

Botox is a term that most have heard. This injectable treatment has been around for quite an extended period, and it is still widely known even after many years on the market. Nonetheless, not all patients have the same level of success with Botox. Some people may discover that the common side effects are not what they expected.

Some people also believe they are developing a higher tolerance to Botox, making it less powerful. In these cases, Juvéderm Volumaâ„¢ XC may be a strong option. The Food and Drug Administration of the United States has approved Juvéderm.

In 2006, the FDA declared that Juvéderm Volumaâ„¢ XC was safe to use and won’t induce any severe adverse effects. JUVEDERM VOLUMAâ„¢ is ideal for almost everyone since it is based on hyaluronic acid, which people have in their bodies. Even though Voluma is intended as a cosmetic treatment for the loss of volume in the cheeks, the other Juvéderm XC products are not limited to this one problem. Juvederm products can also treat:

  • Frown lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Severe parentheses lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Smile lines
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Drooping cheeks

Because the primary ingredient in JUVEDERM VOLUMAâ„¢ is a natural substance, the dermal filler will benefit most people. Since hyaluronic acid is already present in the skin, the body won’t regard it as a “foreign substance” in a way that could cause an allergic reaction. As a result, it is appropriate for most people, particularly those who want facial rejuvenation.

The specifics of these objectives, on the other hand, may differ from person to person. Some people want to increase volume to their cheeks or other regions, and others like to remove facial lines or crow’s feet. The ideal Juvéderm candidates want to smoothen the facial lines that emerge with aging.

However, they wish to do so in a manner that is as organic and natural as possible. It appeals to the vast majority of the people, but JUVEDERM VOLUMAâ„¢ may not be the optimal treatment option in a few cases. JUVEDERM VOLUMAâ„¢ is not advisable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding for safety reasons.
